5G and 5G Advanced Networks

4G, or fourth-generation wireless technology, is an advanced mobile network that succeeded 3G. It provides faster data transfer speeds, improved voice and video calling quality, and enhanced mobile internet capabilities. 4G has enabled high-quality streaming, online gaming, and other data-intensive applications on mobile devices. It has significantly improved network efficiency, reliability, and overall performance compared to its predecessor, 3G.
5G, the fifth-generation mobile network, represents a significant leap forward from 4G. It is designed to offer ultra-fast data speeds, extremely low latency, and massive device connectivity. It is not just about faster mobile internet but also introduces advancements like network slicing, which allows the creation of virtualized, customized networks for specific applications. 5G is crucial for the development of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and various industrial applications that demand high-speed, low-latency connectivity.
Here we discussed the latest news and publications that improve the existing 4G and 5G networks.

Vehicle-to-Everything Networks and Urban Air Mobility

The Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X), a cutting-edge technology recently introduced in 5G, offers a unified approach to ensure high-reliability and low-latency communications for vehicles. With the advancement of technologies such as Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft (VTOL), electrically propelled Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft (eVTOL), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), the research community also focuses on Urban Air Mobility (UAM). UAM utilizes small aircraft to transport passengers or cargo at lower altitudes in urban and suburban areas. Furthermore, flying vehicles should be connected to ground-based vehicles for smart urban mobility, where the cruising altitude of flying cars can reach around 300 meters. Therefore, in terms of connectivity, we should look beyond C-V2X, as wireless networks need enhancement to serve both flying and ground-based vehicles. Here, we share the latest news and publications related to C-V2X and UAM connectivity.
